Sally Melia is a very OLD hand at bingo and celebrated her 103rd birthday in style... with a VIP trip to her favourite bingo hall.
Former seamstress Sally is a celebrity at the Mecca Bingo Hall in Knotty Ash which she visits once a week with her son Bill.
Sally has lived through two world wars and raised seven children, ten grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
She has been been a member of the bingo hall in East Prescot Road, Knotty Ash for 43 years and is acknowleged at the Mecca chain's oldest
And to celebrate her 103rd birthday Mecca rolled out the red carpet and arranged a surprise party with hundreds of cards, a cake, and balloons to greet her at the bingo hall.
Sally was born in 1906, and worked in her youth for tailors Roberts and Bromley, but during the war she worked at a Royal Ordnance factory.
She retired at 65 in 1971 after several years working as as a school cook and has lived in the same house since 1932.
Her eldest son Bill Melia said: "She looks forward to the visit to the bingo every Saturday.
"Her only complaint is that the over-100s should have the special dispensation to smoke!"
Steve Linder, manager of Mecca Bingo, Knotty Ash said: "Sally is as fit as a fiddle and more active than some people thirty years younger than here.
"We see her alomsot every week and she makes a point of handing-out sweets to all and sundyr.
"She's the queen of this bingo hall and weare delighted to treat her like royalty."
Said Sally: "I don't know what I would do if I could not get down to the bingo for my weekly visit.
"It helps keeps me active and you meet some lovely people at the bingo. One of these days I'm sure I'll land the big jackpot!"
