Shameless thieves have stolen an iconic five foot tall Yellow Submarine from the front of the Beatles Story museum.

Museum bosses in Liverpool are urging people to help recover the Yellow Submarine plaque, which was featured in a 1968 film of the same name, by offering a reward.

The Sub has featured in thousands of tourists' holiday snaps since the Beatles Story opened in the early 90s.

Beatles Story MD Jerry Goldman described the theft as a 'selfish act' which has also stolen a photo opportunity for thousands of Beatles tourists.

He said: "We're very upset that someone would commit such a selfish act.

"We're offering a £100 reward to be donated to the Linda McCartney Centre on behalf of anyone who can return our Submarine safely."
