
Police have launched a murder hunt after a man who had a confrontation with a gang of louts was knocked down with a car.
Francis Molyneux, 32, died from multiple injuries suffered when the car smashed into him in Kensington area of Liverpool.
Officers were called by an ambulance crew who tended to the victim in Holt Road, at around 10.20 pm on Thursday 2nd July.
Police are working on the theory that Francis was ploughed-down by dark-coloured Land Rover Discovery an believe it is linked to an incident in which he remonstrated with a gang of youths.
Detectives are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the incident, or who may have seen a dark-coloured vehicle in the area at the time, to come forward.
A Merseyside Police spokeswoman said:"We believe that Mr Molyneux was involved in an earlier argument with a group of youths on Holt Road at around 7pm.
"We are also appealing to anyone who may have seen this argument taking place to come forward."
A Home Office Post Mortem will take place on Monday to establish the cause of death.
Four men who were arrested in connection with the incident have been released on police bail pending further enquiries.
