Police hunting a pair of thugs who robbed a 10-year-old boy at knifepoint have charged a teenager following a tip-off from a Click Liverpool reader.

The alleged theft happened on April 21, when a terrified schoolboy was threatened by two youths outside a shop in Formby.

The schoolboy was first approached outside the Spar Store in Harrington Road, Formby by two teenage thugs who demanded he hand-over his bike.

Bravely the boy refused, but a short time later the pair returned wearing dark hoodies and
threatened the terrified youngster with the knife.

The pair then took the bike and headed off in the direction of Larkhill Lane,

Police appealed for help from the public in tracing the thugs and released CCTV images of a pair of suspects.

Within hours of our publication of the story an public-spirited reader posted an anonymous comment suggesting names for the suspects.

Our newsdesk withheld the comment from publication and forwarded the information to police who pursued the investigation.

Acting on the information supplied detectives arrested a 16-year-old youth from the Bootle area who has been charged with theft.

The suspect has been released on police bail to appear before South Sefton Youth Court on 7th July.

Det Inspe Dave Keegan said: "I wish to offer my appreciation to Click Liverpool and the reader who furnished information relating to this matter."
