The widow and daughters of a man kicked to death by a gang of youths are launching a radio station to honour their father, Garry Newlove.

Zoe Newlove, eldest daughter of Garry, will be hosting a breakfast show with two big named women DJs on the Newlove FM station, broadcasting on 87.7 to local communities.

Garry Newlove was murdered by drunken youths outside their Fearnhead home in August 2007, after bravely remonstrating with the yobs over damage to his wife's car. He died in hospital two days later.

The three women will be entertaining residents every morning from June 27 to July 12 while the radio station goes live.

Mr Newlove's widow Helen will then take the radio equipment on the road, visiting schools as part of an educational package.

Helen and her daughters Zoe, Danielle and Amy witnessed the vicious attack on Garry. Their experiences were used as evidence in the court case against Swellings, Sorton, Cunliffe and two other boys, who were found not guilty.

Since her husband's death Mrs Newlove has also set up Newlove Warrington, a charity that aims to provide activities for teenagers and turn them away from anti-social behaviour.

Helen, 45, said: "The buzz for the whole event is amazing with everything coming alive.

"I can't wait for people to listen to Newlove FM.

"It will be a very professional outfit with the experience of those on board.

"Everyone taking part is doing so voluntarily, which is amazing.

"Zoe is really looking forward to it and as her mum I'm really proud to see her getting so involved."

Helen is also hosting a summer ball on Saturday, July 11, for Warrington residents.

A marquee with a secret garden theme will take place in the grounds at the back of the Town Hall where there will be a champagne reception, followed by the ball.

I think what you intend to do is the right message to spread to everybody. Lets hope and pray that we can all respect each other.
