A pensioner football fan is using his free bus pass to get to the FA Cup final.... even though the trip will take two days.
Everton mad Terry Eagles, 62, is making the 220 mile trip on 35 different buses to watch his side face Chelsea at Wembley.
Having worked out a rough route on the internet, Terry plans to hop aboard the number 84 at the corner of his road in Liverpool before finishing his journey 50 hours later on Wembley Way in London.
The sporting pilgrimage begins on Penny Lane - made famous by The Beatles - before changing in the city centre to the number 401 to Chester.
From there he will have multiple changes in Crewe, Stafford, Oxfordshire, Luton and Watford, before reaching London's Wembley Stadium in time for the 3pm kick-off.
The route should cost Terry hundreds of pounds but thanks to the free bus pass he got two years ago he won't be forking out a penny.
Grandfather-of-two Terry said: "I've had this pass for nearly two years and hardly ever used it so I thought, why not?
"I started looking into the trip and it turned out to be far more complicated than I imagined.
"To use the pass I have to stick to smaller bus routes which take an awful lot longer and they stop running quite early in the evenings.
"It is a big risk because if I miss any connections my dream of Wembley could be finished.
"I have no idea where I will be staying or what town I will be in but hopefully someone will put me up for the night.
"My wife mentioned about raising money for charity as my daughters friend has just been diagnosed with Breast Cancer.
"We are now asking people to pledge money on my website wembleyorbust.com, which goes directly to the Linda McCartney charity."
One major hurdle in Terry's plan could be when he arrives at the tiny village of Eydon, Northamptonshire, as there are no buses after 6pm.
Terry - whose son-in-law Matt Jackson played for Everton in their 1995 cup Final win against Man United, added: "I'm preying I get to at least Coventry on the first night and I must be at Watford by Friday or the final leg will take too long and I will miss the game.
"I've had a lot of support from fans everywhere including Aston Villa, Newcastle and Chelsea and they have all wished me good luck.
"All I need now is for Everton to win. If they don't, it will certainly be one long journey home."
