BRIT'S rejoice - for today is officially the hottest day of the year.
As forecasters predicted, the sun is cracking the flags for the Bank Holiday weekend with temperatures in Liverpool hitting 23c (73f).
And according to the tourist body for Visit Britain, people have ditched plans for a holiday abroad this weekend - in favour of sunning themselves in the UK.
A spokesman for tourist body Visit Britain said: "Our research shows one in five Britons who would have flown abroad for a holiday this year are now considering vacationing in Britain.
"Potentially, five million more people will choosie to holiday at home.
"Combined with the warm Bank Holiday forecast, we expect many more people will remain in Britain over the weekend rather than fly away."
The hottest temperature so far this year was 22.1c (72f), recorded in East Malling, Kent, on April 15.
A Met Office spokesman said: "Today is likely to be the best day of the three-day weekend, with a lot of sun for most people.
"We could have temperatures of up to 25c (77f) in southern parts of England, but it will be bright for all the country."
But those planning a barbecue or day out should make the most of it - for the holiday is likely to end with thunderstorms on Monday.
So enjoy the sun while you can!
