Homes badly damaged in lorry crash

A driver was rushed to hospital after a crash that left a lorry embedded in the front of four houses at a busy road junction in Liverpool.

There was traffic chaos as police sealed off the junction of Queens Drive and Walton Hall Avenue while fire and rescue crews spent several hours recovering the wreckage and making properties safe.

The lorry hit the row of houses at the notorious accident blackspot moments after it was in collision with a Renault car.

The driver of the car was taken to University Hosptial Aintree where his codndition was described as "serious"

A number of residents in the houses escaped injury.

Roades were closed and diversions were set-up causing major delays.

Police warned drivers travelling to the Everton v Manchester City match at nearby Goodison Park to allow extra time for their journey.

Hope the driver of the car is okay... looks like a bad smash. Match may have to be delayed kick off I think....
