"Only 24 hours until the Red Dwarf Welcome Home Dave party... I'd better start getting ready. Owww! I'm so excited all six of my nipples are tingling!" Yes everyone we've spoken to, from the Cat to the show's mastermind, have been just as excited about the Aigburth Arms do as the return to our screens of the small rouge one.

A special plaque to commemorate the pub as Red Dwarf and Dave Lister's birthplace will be erected at the bash. It was at the Liverpool boozer that the show's creators Rob grant and Doug Naylor drank too many 'fermented vegatable drinks' and came up with the idea of a sit-com set in space.

Event specialists Purple Revolver say although it has now been renamed The Victoria, it’s important that the old Aigburth Arms shouldn’t lose its unique status in Liverpool’s pop culture history.

The concept behind the party imagines what Dave Lister would want to do when he finally makes it back to Earth... get down the Aigburth Arms for a pint, curry and a Planet Potting pool game of course.

Click Liverpool will be on hand to capture the celebrations and the unveiling of the 'birthplace plaque' for all those fans worldwide who have expressed their sadness in not being able to attend the Dwarfer party of the century.

Speaking exclusively to Click Danny John-Jules, told how the pub also holds a special significance to his family - because it is his nephew who plays the baby Lister in the Ouroboros episode of series 7 - which sees Lister being placed under the pool table by himself.

He said: "It was my nephew who played the baby Craig in the episode where Dave is found under the pool table in a cardboard box.

"Alexander John-Jules, my brother's boy - we're very proud of that fact.

"Hope everybody at the Aigburth Arms loves the party. Keep it real, keep it Dwarf and enjoy the new shows."

The new series' writer/director Doug Naylor also said he’s thrilled by the commemorative plaque, which will be unveiled by Denise Fergus as the bash will raise money for the Red Balloon James Bulger Learning House appeal.

Doug said: “It’s a fantastic idea,”

“They wanted me to come along, but I just can’t get away unfortunately. My dad’s been really ill, he’s been in hospital since December so I'm going to spend some time with him, as the new shows have kept everyone overworked and away from their family.

"It’s a fantastic idea, though, I’m absolutely thrilled and hope all the Dwarfers have a great time.”

The party starts from 4.30pm until late with a Red Dwarf pub quiz, Fancy dress competition, Dave Lister curry club meal and the second show screening... tickets are £5 and proceeds will go to the James Bulger Red Balloon Learner Centre. www.amiando.com/AigburthArmsDo
