Police have denied that a 'Taser gun' or any Taser-style imobilisation devices were used in the Liverpool terror alert operation.
There had been reports that a Taser weapon was used by officers who arrested a man at the city's John Moores University Library in Maryland Street.
But a spokesman for the North West Counter-Terrorism Unit said: "We can confirm that no firearms or tasers were discharged during the operation."
A total of 13 men were arrested in Operation Pathway and of those five were arrested in Manchester, two in Clitheroe and one on the M602 motorway.
One man was arrested at the Liverpool JMU Aldham Robarts Library, three at two addresses in Cedar Grove, Toxteth and one at flat in Earle Road, Wavertree.
The Liverpool John Moores University issued a statement to staff and students today explaining that one of the men arrested was a student.
The statement said: "During a controlled operation yesterday, one man was arrested at the University and has been confirmed to be an Liverpool JMU student.
"The police informed the University immediately of the circumstances surrounding the arrest and as always the police have our full support and cooperation.
"Students and staff can be reassured that the University is continuing to work in partnership with the police during this ongoing operation."
