The grieving grandmother of brutally murdered Joseph Lappin has today made a fresh appeal for help find her grandson's killers.
Florence Lappin known as Flo-May spoke of her family's anguish after police have failed to catch the gang of youths thought to have stabbed Joseph to death.
The 16-year-old Army cadet was enjoying a night out with friends at a church-run youth centre when he was set upon by the bloodthirsty gang.
Joseph and his two pals were cornered by a group of 15 men and youths on the 20th October last year. This was the tragic day the teenager received fatal knife wounds to his chest.
One friend, Callum Naden, 17, was also stabbed but luckily survived. The other boy sustained minor injuries.
Despite a series of arrests and two emotional pleas from Joseph's parents, John, 45, and Toni, 44, detectives are still hunting the killers.
Now his grandmother has made another heartfelt appeal to anyone with information to come forward.
Speaking on Radio Merseyside, Flo-May said: "I am making an appeal on behalf of my husband, son, and daughter in law.
"On the 20th April it will be six months since my grandson Joseph was so cruelly murdered.
"It has devastated his parents John and Toni, his sister and brother, his three grandparents, his aunties, uncles and his cousins.
"Joseph was loved and respected, he was talented and cherished by all of us.
"The pain we have to suffer gets worse everyday.
"I appeal to everybody in the public to please come forward.
"Anyone who knows anything about that dreadful evening on the 20th October to come please get in touch with police.
"Any information no matter how small you think it may be, it may not be to the police.
"I beg you to end our anguish.
"When your grandson goes out to a youth club one night, you expect him to come home again.
"The last time we saw him was in hospital, but we couldn't even touch him.
"Can anyone imagine that kind of pain?
"For someone to plunge a knife into a young lad and just run off is horrendous.
"I can't understand why anybody would carry a knife.
"Judges need to impose stricter sentences for people who carry knives, we can't let them get away with it.
"The parents also need to teach their kids that they could kill someone."
