Manchester's famous soap opera, Coronation Street has caused a stir... by going Scouse!
The soap, which has been running for 49-years, used a LIVERPOOL landmark to stand-in for a place in Manchester, for the first time in the show's history.
In episodes screened this week, Corrie fans saw Tina McIntyre flee from "Weatherfield Crown Court" in tears after refusing to lie under-oath for boyfriend David Platt.
But programme bosses decided to uproot from their usual surroundings and use Liverpool's St George's Hall as the location for the trial of David's love-rival Gary Windass.
Locals on Merseyside are now revelling in the fact the Manchester show has had to travel up the M62 for filming.
Scouser Thomas Edwards, 22, said: "It's great that Corrie decided to film here.
"We've acted as a double for loads of famous cities but I'm surprised the soap wanted to depict Manchester in Liverpool.
"We are meant to be big rivals and over the past few years all we have heard is how much better Manchester is.
"So it's quite amusing that their biggest show has had to come to Liverpool in order to film some of its most important scenes.
"Manchester should watch out, it wont be long until the residents of Weatherfield up sticks and move to Scouse land."
Liverpool City Council leader Warren Bradley said: "Liverpool is hugely appealing to film makers because we've got such a versatile range of locations.
"You can find anything from Georgian mansions, cobbled streets and Victorian warehouses through to modern skyscrapers, beautiful parks and beach locations all within a stones throw.
"Film making is worth around £12 million a year to the local economy and we welcome producers and directors with open arms.
"We have built a fantastic reputation as a film friendly city, and I am delighted that Coronation Street used our beautifully restored St George's Hall and had such a great time while they were here."
Location manager for Coronation street John Friend Newman said: "The exterior of St George's Hall was magnificent.
"It offered us the exterior of a crown court and that was exactly what we were looking for.
"We had two very good days' filming in the city and the members of the public were absolutely fantastic.
"The city was excellent"
