Council leader Warren Bradley has offered the support of the City of Liverpool to the parents of tragic schoolboy Rhys Jones in the aftermath the murder trial convitions.
Lib/Dem Cllr Bradley said: "My thoughts and prayers are with Rhys' family at this time.
"The murder sent shock waves throughout the city, the country and the wider world and it is a relief that those involved have been found guilty.
"The police should be applauded for the way they have conducted the investigation and for bringing those who committed the crime to justice.
"The communities of Norris Green and Croxteth Park are working together in the face of this adversity to bring forward a community centre in the memory of Rhys and the council are doing all they can to ensure this is delivered.
"This is a silver lining from such a tragedy but we would all rather have Rhys here with us."
