Father Christmas will be mingling with the animals at Liverpool-region Knowsley Safari Park next month.

Arriving on a magical husky-drawn carriage, Father Christmas will be hosting a one-off festive breakfast on 22nd December for all the families who would like to meet him ahead of the big day.

Children will get to put their lists to Father Christmas, listen to Christmas stories and carol singers, courtesy of The Salvation Army, and receive a Christmas gift.

There are limited places available at his breakfast table, and he will be checking his list twice to make sure his guests have been nice.

Each weekend throughout December, the park will be infused with festive flavour, including story time with Santa, and a 20-foot sparkling Christmas tree.

Visitors will also be able to see what happens on the Safari drive as Christmas approaches, from the winter preparations for the lion cubs celebrating their first Christmas to the Siberian tigers basking in the cold.

Creative kids can also drop into special seasonal workshops, where they can learn about the continued commitment to conservation at Knowsley Safari Park whilst making festive favours they can take back home.

The park has also slashed its admission prices for the whole family this winter, making it easier to visit the animals of the safari.

Eveline de Wolf, Head of Animals at Knowsley Safari Park, said: "The animals and keepers are so excited about meeting Father Christmas this December and sharing the experience with our visitors.

"Winter is an exciting time of year at the Park, and keepers are busy getting the animals ready for the colder weather.

"We always make sure that our animals are comfortable in their environment, with some additional preparations for the British climate such as additional bedding and heated animal housing."

Tickets for breakfast with Santa are £10 per child + entrance fee (children 12 months + require a ticket)
