Health professional Kate Lucy has been appointed to lead the organisation which provides out of hours care to patients in Knowsley and Liverpool.
Kate will take over as Chair of Urgent Care 24 at the organisation’s annual meeting next Thursday, September 20, when Dr Mark Burns steps down after eight years.
Kate, who has been a Non-Executive Director of UC24 for a year, has more than 25 years experience working in health-related services.
She said: “I am looking forward to continuing the good work undertaken by Dr Burns and to working with all office staff and clinicians.
“It looks like challenging times ahead as we re-tender for the current contract, and my focus will be to continue to ensure that UC24 provides excellent out of hours services to all the people we serve."
Kate started her career in health promotion, moving into public health and then leading a health action zone, followed by roles in strategic health development and service re-design.
More recently, she took on the role of Independent Chair of Community Services Bury, and led the formation of a three-way community services partnership, which in turn resulted in a successfully negotiated merger with a foundation trust.
Kate is married, with a 20 year old daughter and 18 year old son. She lives in Thelwall and is currently studying for an MA in Contemporary Fine Art.
UC24 has been providing out of hours GP services to more than 400,000 people throughout Knowsley and Liverpool, since 2004.
*The annual members meeting is open to the public, and will this year focus on Health and Social Care, with providers from Knowsley and Liverpool discussing their services and plans for the future.
The event takes place on September 20, between noon and 3 pm, at Blackburne House, off Hope Street, Liverpool L8 7PE. Further details from Kevin Robinson on 0151 254 2553
