Members of staff from LCH will be on site at the tournament, which is taking place at Calderstones Park from 20 – 24 June, to offer health information and advice to members of the public attending the event.
The team will also be talking to people about the benefits of becoming a member of Liverpool Community Health NHS Trust, and encouraging people to sign up.
Becoming a member of the Trust is completely free to do and enables people to have far more influence and say in the future of their local health services.
Tournament Director, Anders Borg explains, “One of my main aims in starting the tournament eleven years ago was to help introduce tennis to more people in Merseyside. It’s a sport which is easy to pick up, cheap to play and is a really great way to stay fit and healthy.”
“All year round the team at Liverpool Community Health work to deliver health services which make a real difference in local communities across Liverpool, so it’s fantastic to be able to partner with them in this way to promote sports and healthy living.”
Frances Molloy, Chief Executive of LCH adds, “Over the past ten years, the Liverpool International Tennis Tournament has worked with more than 60,000 children and young people in schools and youth clubs across Merseyside, promoting physical activity, health and wellbeing amongst our local communities.
“It’s an ethos which is very similar to our own, so we are extremely proud to sponsor and be involved in such an exceptional event – especially during this special Olympic year.”
The tournament will be held at Calderstones Park between 20 – 24 June, including a Schools Day on June 20, followed by the four day main tournament event.
This year it will host British ace Greg Rusedski, and former Wimbledon champions Richard Krajicek and Virginia Wade amongst its player line up.
