David, ambassador for the Walton Neuro Fund, has netted a deal with The Medicash Liverpool International Tennis Tournament to support the specialist hospital charity.
Organisers have offered the charity top ranking at the prestigious sporting event, after talks with David.
‘Supersub’ David, who leads a fundraising committee for The Walton Centre’s Neuro Fund, said: “It is fantastic to be linked to one of the city’s greatest sporting events and I’m very grateful to Anders Borg and his team for giving us their support.”
It means that crowd-pulling matches by some of the tennis world’s most glittering stars will help to boost the charity, with collections and an auction for corporate guests.
Anders Borg, Tournament Director, said: “This is a cause that is close to my heart. We are proud to be associated with such a great charity and I hope that our involvement will help not only to raise funds but also awareness that Liverpool has one of the best neuroscience hospitals in Europe.”
The Walton Neuro Fund is supporting a programme of major expansion at the specialist hospital.
The Walton Centre chief executive Dr Liz Mear said: “The need for our services in treating serious brain and spine conditions and providing pain management and rehabilitation services, has grown year on year.
“We have outgrown our centre and we are going to build new wards and theatres so that we can treat more patients, using state of the art equipment and techniques.
“Our clinicians include many who are among the best in the world and they carry out pioneering research and introduce the very latest procedures to diagnose and treat our patients.
“It is fantastic to be supported by the Medicash Liverpool International Tennis Tournament, one of the country’s flagship sporting events here on our doorstep.
“All the help and funds we receive will directly benefit patients, many of whom have life threatening illnesses or are living with debilitating neurological conditions.”
