Wayne Rooney's look-a-like cousin is turning down offers of work as a double because he reckons Wayne is the copycat in the family.
Wayne's older cousin James Rooney insists people comparing him to the footy ace are holding back his burgeoning pop career.
Computer entertainment giant EA Sports offered pop singer James the chance to be the 'face of Roo' in FIFA '09, one of the best selling soccer games.
Talented James was approached by the electronic sports company to pose as Wayne in a number of footy strikes after they saw music promo shots of him.
But James, 25, refused £500 for a day's look-a-like duty and said he wants to distance himself from the England and Man Utd ace's career.
James, who grew up in Croxteth, Liverpool, the same estate as the footy hero, says he is constantly teased about their similar appearence.
He reckons he was unfairly axed from the X-Factor two years ago despite succeeding at an initial auditions after they found out he was Wayne's cousin.
James, who's father is Wayne Rooney Snr's older brother, says that if anything Wayne is his look-a-like because he is older than him.
He said: "People think I must get lucky breaks because Wayne is my cousin, but in fact its the opposite situation.
"When I got through the first round of the X-Factor auditions a couple of years ago I was so excited, but when they found out I was Wayne's cousin I was booted out.
"I was just told not to come back after they looked at my surname and made the connection.
"I've never taken any of the work I've been offered as a Wayne look-a-like. I'm making a name for myself in music, in my own right.
"E.A. Sports called me up and offered me some modelling work - but never explained what is was.
"But having later found out the job description was being a lookalike for Wayne I never went ahead with it.
"They only offered me £500 is what I was offered for the whole day, which is a stupid amount of money I earn more than this for a pub gig.
"I would not want to make money off the back of my cousin's fame, just because we look similar.
"Anyway, he's my lookalike as I'm older than him."
