Liverpool's own Olympian boxer, David Price, is set to fight his next boxing match at Aintree Racecourse.

Price, known as the 'Heavyweight Sensation', will fight Sam Sexton for the vacant British and Commonwealth Heavyweight titles on 19th May.

The announcement coincided with Aintree Racecourse revealing that it's Equestrian Centre has been named as an official boxing venue by the sport's governing body, the BBB of C.

Sky TV have also recommended the setting for filming of live fights to be broadcast on television.

Debbie Slee, Conference and Events manager at Aintree Racecourse said: "We are absolutely delighted to have been recognised by the BBBofC as an official boxing venue and cannot wait to bring some of boxing’s most high profile matches to Aintree.

"This is the first event of its kind to be held at the racecourse, and will be made extra special by hosting David Price, a Liverpool lad, as one of our first competitors."

The centre was completed in 2007 and boasts 3,700 sq. feet of exhibition space, and will seat 5,000 people.

David Price said: "It is an honour to be part of the first main event to be held at Aintree. It will be a fight worthy of this bigger venue, and a fight for the fans that they should really get excited about."
