Jessie Paisley, wife of legendary Liverpool FC manager Bob Paisley has died aged 96.
She was diagnosed with a heart infection last week and passed away in hospital this morning.
Jessie was by her husband's side right through his career as Liverpool's most successful manager leading the team to six league titles and three European Cups.
Her son Graham today paid tribute to his mother.
He said: "She was the driving force behind my dad.
"She idolised my dad and was very much Liverpool Football Club through and through.
"In fact, the last piece of good news she got was the team beating the two Manchester clubs in the cups - she was very pleased about that.
"She was so fully supportive of what my dad did - she was always 100 per cent behind him.
"There was no side to her and she never begrudged the time he'd have to spend away from home."
Jessie unveiled the Paisley Gates outside the Kop in April 1999 three years after Bob's passing.
In an official statment on Liverpool FC's website, the club said: "Everybody at Liverpool Football Club would like to pass on their condolences to Jessie's family and friends at this difficult time."
