A woman who stopped to get money from a cash machine on a deserted road was raped by a man who stalked-up behind her.
The 23-year-old victim was subjected to the terrifying ordeal after a taxi driver dropped her off at a Liverpool post office in the early hours of the morning.
But after she left the ATM machine in Moss Lane, Orrell Park, the woman was followed by two men who subjected her to a terror ordeal.
One of the pair pushed her to the ground and raped her on the pavement before stealing her mobile phone.
After the attack the woman staggered to a nearby house to dial 999 and report what had happened at around 5.30am on Saturday 29th October last year.
Detectives mounted a full investigation but have only now issued stills from a CCTV camera showing blurry images of the two suspected attackers.
A Merseyside Police spokesman said: "The woman was dropped off by a taxi at around 5.30am on 29th October, on Moss Lane, before visiting the ATM machine located at the Post Office.
"Her mobile phone was also stolen during the attack, which took place near the Carlton Bingo next to Victoria Drive.
"The woman then made her way to a house nearby where she alerted the emergency services. She was described as being 'shocked and distressed' by the incident.
"Detectives from dedicated investigative unit, The Unity Team, are appealing to anybody who could have information on the incident.
"They believe the men in the CCTV could hold crucial information on the case and urge them to come forward."
Detective Inspector Debbie Weir added: "This was a dreadful attack on a woman who had merely been on a night out.
"She has been left shocked and distressed by what happened to her and we are doing everything we can to find the offenders.
"I would like to reassure the community that this type of attack is rare and I am appealing for members of the public to come forward."
Anybody who has any information on the incident should call police on 0151 777 1382. Alternatively you can call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
