A team of hospital porters were hailed as “unsung heroes” for their work behind the scenes of a specialist Liverpool hospital.
Aintree Racecourse’s conference and events team recently hosted an awards ceremony with a difference, Walton’s Got Talent, for staff of the Walton Centre NHS Foundation Trust.
The night was a huge success for the hospital, who say they were so delighted by the food and service at the venue they will return to Aintree Racecourse next year.
The porters beat other hospital departments, including teams of nurses and HR staff, to be given the highest accolade ‘the Pride of Walton’, with other awards handed out in areas including individual positive achievement, improving the patient experience, and most innovative. A talent contest followed the ceremony.
The event was compered by well-known Radio City DJ Johnny Kennedy, and sponsored by law firm Hill Dickinson.
Conference and events manager at Aintree Racecourse, Debbie Slee said: “Nights that celebrate the best of an organisation like the Walton’s Got Talent event are wonderful to be involved in. We were really pleased the event was a big success and are looking forward to working with Walton hospital again in the future.”
