Liverpool police station evacuated after World War II explosive drama

A Liverpool police station was evacuated after a World War II explosive was handed in.

Nearby roads were cordoned off as staff were told to leave Marsh Lane Police Station in Bootle.

Bomb disposal experts were called to the scene to examine the device

After it was declared safe officers lifted the cordon around the station.

A Merseyside Police spokeswoman said: "The police cordons in Bootle have been lifted and the police station reopened after explosives experts viewed photographs of the device and declared it safe."
