Gunman threatens Chinese restaurant customer in Liverpool

An armed man threatened a diner in a Chinese restaurant as terrified staff looked on in Liverpool.

Officers had to deploy the force helicopter in search of the gunman who brandished the firearm inside the Chung Lok restaurant on Linacre Road.

It is understood a diner became involved in a verbal dispute with the armed man after stepping outside for a cigarette at about 11pm.

The customer returned to his table but was confronted by the gunman in dark clothing.

After the brief encounter the man armed with a gun left the restaurant.

Police were forced to close the main road and asked staff in a nearby pub to keep drinkers inside as they searched for the offender.

The offender is described as white male wearing a dark hooded top.

Police are appealing to anyone who may have seen anyone acting suspiciously to ring 0151 777 3165.
