Hatton's Model Railways owner tragic balcony death

Tragedy has struck Liverpool's world-renowned Hattons Model Railways as their Managing Director, Keith Hatton, fell to his death from a balcony in Ibiza.

The 49-year-old died after what is believed to have been an accidental fall while he holidayed in the Spanish Isle.

The family run Wavertree-based business was founded by Keith's father, Norman Hatton, upon leaving the army in 1946.

The company has since grown to become one of the world's top model railway specialists.

Since his father's retirement, Keith Hatton transformed the business from a small town shop into a multi-million pound operation.

Happily, the business will be kept in the family, as directorship passes to Keith's sister, Christine Hatton.

A statement issued by Hatton's Model Railways read: "The staff at Hattons Model Railways are saddened to hear of the accidental death of their Managing Director, Keith Hatton.

"Keith lived for the business and Hattons was indeed centred around him.

"Keith is survived by his sister, Christine who has also been involved in the running on Hattons for many years.

"Christine and the staff at Hatton's, despite their sad loss, would like to reassure customers that Hatton's will continue to serve the model railway community both in the short term and in future years."
