
Police are hunting yobs who shattered a Liverpool man's jaw in a homophobic attack.
The 27-year-old man was stood with friends outside Thoroughgoods General Store in Marsh Lane, Bootle on Monday night, when a group of seven men started shouting abuse at them.
One of the group, who had been drinking, then punched the 27-year-old in the face, putting him in hospital with a broken jaw.
Police have released CCTV images of three of the men they want to speak to about the incident.
Officers described the main attacker as 5ft 8in and aged between 16 and 17.
He had short dark hair and was wearing a metal train-track brace on his teeth.
DC Peter Tynan, from the Sigma Hate Crime Unit, said: “We are committed to making Merseyside a safe place for all, regardless of ethnic origin, gender, age, disability, sexual orientation or religion and believe everyone has the right to be treated with fairness, dignity and respect.
“Those who carry out hate crimes targeting people because of their difference should be left in no doubt their behaviour will not be tolerated and robust action will be taken to ensure they are arrested and prosecuted for their actions.
“We ask anyone with any information about this unprovoked attack to come forward so we can bring the offenders to justice.”
