Bus strikes in Liverpool have been called off for the second time in a month.
Nearly 500 drivers for Stagecoach were preparing to stage a fresh walkout on Friday over three days amid their ongoing dispute with management over pay.
Previous strike action was halted in mid- Ju6ne amid fears of major disruption to the city due to it coinciding with Taylor Swift’s three-day concert at Anfield.
Drivers were balloted on Stagecoach’s offer as they sought to bridge the ‘huge disparity’ between their wages and those at rival bus company Arriva.
The Unite union confirmed on Wednesday that a fresh proposal has since been put forward, leading the latest planned industrial action being shelved.
Brian Troake, Unite regional officer, said: “Following a new offer from Stagecoach we are now balloting our members.
“As a goodwill gesture the strikes that were due to take place from 12 to 15 July are now paused while the drivers are consulted.”
