A man has been arrested after a suspicious package was delivered into Walton prison using a drone.
Police arrested the 44-year-old from Anfield after prison staff at HMP Liverpool alerted local patrols to the incident during the early hours of January 6.
At around 1.50am, offiers on Hornby Road were made aware that a drone had been seen hovering above the grounds of the prison.
The drone was seen with an object attached beneath it, before it was seen to be flown away minus any object and landed close to Rice Lane Farm.
Detectives from Merseyside Police detained the man on suspicion of conveying a prohibited article into prison.
He has been conditionally bailed pending further enquiries.
