Liverpool - the Odessa smile

Liverpool has long been a World City and was once known as The Second City of Empire.

More recently the 'Pool has proclaimed its status adopting the European Capital of Culture 2008 slogan "The World in One City".

And here is photographic proof - if it were needed - that Liverpool features on the list of places to visit for folk from far-off lands.

The picture was sent to Click Liverpool by Liverpool-born travel jounalist Maria Harding, in Odessa, Ukraine, and shows a signpost complete with the mileage to Liverpool.

Maria, who has travelled to every corner of the world said: "Seeing Liverpool's name on the top of a signpost of world cities made me feel quite proud."

Odessa is a city with which Liverpool as a special "Freindship" link.

Liverpool is twinned with is twinned with three cities Cologne (since 1952) Dublin (since 1997) and Shanghai (since 1999).

It also has "Friendship Links" with other international cities
