Toxteth Fire Station will be transformed as it plays host to a community information day on Saturday 13th February.

Fire engines, hoses and ladders will make way for a 30 foot high climbing wall and lots of stalls providing a wealth of information about topics ranging from health and housing through to crime prevention and victim support.

Also present at the event - which takes place from 10am until 1pm on Park Street in Liverpool 8 - will be the Connexions service with advice and guidance about training and employment, Liverpool Rangers Service with information about parks and open spaces, Merseyside Probation Service and Merseyside Police.

It is part of Liverpool’s latest Respect Week of Action, which is focusing on the Princes Park area of the city.

The week has also seen a crackdown on crime and grime with litter picks, graffiti clean ups, additional police patrols and skips for people to dump bulky household rubbish in.

Cllr Marilyn Fielding, Executive Member for Safer, Stronger Communities said: “This event is a chance for people to get together in one location and find out more about what is being done to improve the area.

“There will be lots happening for the whole family and it is an opportunity to find out more about things such as learning new skills, improving your health or staying safe.

“This is all about improving life for local people, and this fits with our themed year for 2010 which is the Year of Health and Wellbeing.”

Cllr Berni Turner, Executive Member for Environment, added: "This is about making Princes Park a better place for everyone to live.

"By joining together with all of our partners and concentrating our resources in one area we can make a visible difference to this part of the city."
