Churches Celebrate with Jubilee Events

Churches across Liverpool are hosting many events for the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee across the Bank Holiday weekend, in many different areas. If you’re stuck for something to do for the Queen’s Jubilee, why not look for an event in your area and join in the fun?

Here are some of the events that our churches are putting on:

SOUTH LIVERPOOL:

Jubilee: An Exhibition of New Work by Artists of Faith

Monday 28th May - Friday 1st June, Christ Church, Linnet Lane, Liverpool 17(6.30-8pm daily). Jubilee: An exhibition of new work by artists of faith on the theme of restitution. Special final showing, with the artists available for discussion, on Friday June 1, 6.30-10pm. Visit www.riverarts.co.uk

·St Barnabas Church Jubilee Celebration

Monday 4th June, 8pm-10.30pm, St Barnabas Church, Penny Lane. A Jubilee celebration, with a buffet, music and lighting of the Queen’s Jubilee Beacon on the church tower at 10pm.

WALTON:

·Grand Gala Day and Street Party

Monday 4th June, 11am-4pm, Hartnup Street. Christ Church Walton Breck, Grand Gala Day and Street Party. Rolling program of music and entertainment, street vendors, donkey rides, miniature train rides, stalls, Morris Dancers etcetera, plus some old fashioned street games (tug of war, egg and spoon, three legged races). Most children's things will be free or minimum cost. Afternoon tea will be available in the church hall, teddy bears picnic on the patio and an all round grand day out to celebrate the Queen’s Jubilee, our church and our area. EVERTON:

·Bring and Share Picnic

Sunday 3rd June, grounds of St. George’s Church Everton, Heyworth Street, 1.00pm. Big Jubilee Lunch and bring and share picnic - please bring a picnic chair or blanket. There will be games and activities.

WIGAN:

·Summer Fair and 60th Anniversary Service

On Saturday 2nd June 2012, Parish Church of St. Anne, Beech Hill, there is the 60th Anniversary Summer Fair from 12 noon. On Sunday 3rd June 2012 at 10am, there is a sung Eucharist Service with guest preacher the Venerable Peter Bradley, Archdeacon of Warrington, celebrating the anniversary and the Jubilee.

·Abram Village Diamond Jubilee Party

Monday 4th June, 1pm, Abram Church grounds, Warrington Road, Wigan. Abram Village Diamond Jubilee Party, with music, stalls, refreshments and children's entertainment.

ST HELENS:

·Fifties Night to Celebrate the Jubilee Friday

1st June, Newton Sports Club, Crow Lane East, 7.30pm. Fifties Night to celebrate the Jubilee, held by St. Peter's Church, Newton le Willows. Tickets £5. ORMSKIRK:

·Celebration of the Queen's Jubilee in Flowers

2nd-5th June, Ormskirk Parish Church. Celebration of the Queen's Jubilee in flowers, also refreshments and stalls.

SEFTON:

·Parish Events at St Helen’s, Sefton

Our beautiful church will be open to visitors from 2pm to 4.30pm on Bank Holiday 4th June. There will be a local history exhibition, guided tours, stalls, home-made cakes and teas. On Sunday 10th June, we will hold our Diamond Jubilee Service at 10.45 am in the presence of the Deputy Lord Lieutenant and the Mayor and Mayoress of Sefton. We will dedicate a new prayer desk to commemorate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee. All are welcome.
