Students from Liverpool Community College undertook an exciting fashion challenge at John Lewis Liverpool earlier this week, to support the launch of the Liverpool Design Festival.

The eight students from the college’s ABC Level 3 Diploma in Fashion Retail course will create eight dramatic outfits using only fabric and pins which will be housed on the haberdashery department until 25th October.

Two students from the fashion retail course won the international Worldskills competition in June.

The Liverpool Design Festival, runs from 6 - 9 October and is a celebration of the design talent on Merseyside. This year’s festival sees the return of the Design Show at St Georges Hall running for 3 days (7-9 Oct) and featuring around 80 independent designers from all over the country.

Lucy Hughes, course leader of fashion retail and business at Liverpool Community College, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for the students to work alongside a retail giant like John Lewis and gain valuable work experience.

"All the students involved yesterday really thrived and presented some fantastic designs to be proud of.

"The College is pleased to be supporting and participating in this year’s Liverpool Design Festival and is looking forward to seeing what this year will bring.”

Throughout the Design Festival John Lewis in Liverpool ONE will play host to a selection of fashion and home pieces created by some of the key exhibitors at the Design Show.
