Staff at the historic former home of Victorian ship-owner George Holt have organised a Teddy Bear Hunt in support of Claire House.
It takes place from 1pm this Sunday (26 June) at Sudley House, which is now an art gallery, on Mossley Hill Road in Aigburth.
Admission to the event is free, and there will be collection boxes for Clair House - the National Museums Liverpool’s local charity partner.
The Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts (LIPA) will stage a performance, based on A Midsummer Night’s Dream, in the grounds of the atmospheric house displaying Holt’s stunning collection of paintings and other artworks.
The events coincide with a Teddy Bear’s Picnic in aid of Claire House and other charities organised by Mossley Hill Athletic Club on Holt Recreation Ground, adjacent to Sudley House.
Simon Breedon, Sudley visitor host and Teddy Bear Hunt organiser, said: “We thought it would be a great idea to put on these family events to coincide with the Teddy Bears’ Picnic.
“The Teddy Bear Hunt is a fun game with bear-like clues dotted around Sudley House. Visitors have to follow clues to find a word linked to Sudley House.”
LIPA 4:19 Halton, based at Wade Deacon High School, Widnes, perform Electric Dreams - an 80s rock music version of the Shakespeare classic in the Sudley House rose garden between 4pm and 6:30pm.
Helen Carlson, area manager for Claire House, said: “We are delighted these events are being staged to support our work.
“Claire House receives minimal government funding and we need to raise a staggering £2.5 million to maintain our present levels of service to our children/families. On behalf of Claire House I’d like to thank National Museums Liverpool for their hard work and support”.
Claire House operates from their hospice on the Wirral and their Hospice to Home Office in Liverpool.
It is a bright vibrant place which offers a home from home environment to children and young adults with life limiting illnesses – as well as support for the whole family.
