Dogs Trust Merseyside appeal to public for food donations

by . Published Sun 12 Jun 2011 17:59

Staff at Dogs Trust Merseyside are calling on anyone who is dotty about dogs to donate spare tins of hot dogs, tinned dog food and treats for the canines in their care.

Although not everybody’s idea of fine dining, the deserving-doggies like nothing more than an occasional rawhide or hot dog treat and they are often used by staff to help train the dogs.

Georgina Lowery, Dogs Trust Rehoming Centre Manager, says: “We rely heavily on support from the local community for volunteers and donations of tinned dog food, treats like rawhide, peanut butter and hot dogs.

“We would be really grateful if dog lovers could pick up a few tins of hot dog sausages on their next shop and drop them off at the Rehoming Centre on Whiston Lane. Any donations, no matter how small, are greatly appreciated.”

Dogs Trust is the UK’s largest dog welfare charity and cares for over 16,000 stray and abandoned dogs each year through its network of 16 Re-homing Centres nationwide.

If you would like to make a dog food donation, please kindly send to Dogs Trust Merseyside 0151 480 0660 or drop into the rehoming centre on Whiston Lane, Huyton, Liverpool, L36 6HP.
