To celebrate the 400th anniversary of the King James Version of the Bible, Liverpool Cathedral is hosting a series of in-depth breakfast Bible studies from Sunday 1st May.
Each Breakfast with the Bible session will take place between 9.30am -10.15am in the Well of the Cathedral.
The series, which runs until October, begins with the book of Genesis and will continue through the Old Testament seeking to make connections with the New Testament along the way.
All are welcome no matter what level of Bible knowledge and breakfast will be served to all who attend. All sessions are free and participants do not have to go to every session.
Each session will be led by Canon Dr Jules Gomes, Dwelly Raven Canon of the Cathedral, and lecturer at Liverpool Hope University.
He will use the most recent methods in biblical scholarship to teach the Bible from the perspectives of literature, history and theology.
The studies will also draw attention to the use and interpretation of the Bible in music, art and film.
The series will explore theological themes as well as contemporary issues of faith and life. It will ask difficult questions and will seek to address the walk of discipleship.
Participants do not need any prior knowledge of the Bible to attend and people who are not Christian but are interested in knowing more about the Bible as a cultural and literary document are very welcome.
Afterwards, participants can choose to go to the main Cathedral Sunday service if they wish. Car parking is free for these sessions.
