A giant cake rolled its way into Liverpool city centre on Thursday with the hope of bringing lots of luck to Merseysiders.
The huge 48 inch Swiss roll was especially imported to mark Friday's big EuroMillions draw where there is an awesome £90 million jackpot up for grabs.
In addition to people across the city centre being treated to a slice of the cake, lucky EuroMillions tickets were also given away in the hope that someone from Merseyside will share in a slice of the massive jackpot tomorrow night – or may even win it exclusively.
If one lucky ticket-holder were to win the entire jackpot, they would immediately leap to second in the exclusive National Lottery Rich List, just trailing the anonymous ticket-holder who banked £113 million last year.
It has been an amazing couple of years for EuroMillions players here in the UK. Since June 2009, Brits have won the EuroMillions jackpot a staggering 14 times.
Some of the lucky winners during this spree include Nigel Page who won £56 million in February 2010, Les Scadding who won £45 million in November 2009 and of course the UK’s biggest ever lottery win, the anonymous £113m ticket-holder in October last year.
According to The Sunday Times Rich List 2010, if an individual won the entire £90 million jackpot they would be as rich as George Michael (£90 million), wealthier than Robbie Williams (£85 million) worth double the fortune of supermodel Kate Moss (£43 million), and twelve times more than Liverpool FC’s Steven Gerrard this year (£7.5 million)
A National Lottery spokesperson said: “We’re keeping our fingers crossed for a UK winner this Friday – if the jackpot is won in the UK, it would be the second biggest lottery prize ever paid out and the winner would not only be able to change their own life but also the lives of their friends and family around them.
“As well as the chance to win a staggering estimated £90 million, by playing EuroMillions people are also helping to raise funds for Good Causes all over the UK.”
EuroMillions has rolled five times to reach the £90 million jackpot. If no-one matches all five main numbers and two Lucky Star numbers on Friday to win the EuroMillions jackpot, then it will roll to the following draW on Friday 25th March.
