Mark Evans, star of the hit West End musical WICKED, will be returning to his home in North Wales between 8-13th August 2011* to celebrate the 5th year of his hugely successful summer school, WEST END IN WALES.

Mark Evans, who became a household name in early 2009 after appearing on the BBC TV talent programme 'Eurovision - Your Country Needs You', has a string of musical theatre credits to his name, including his current role as Fiyero in WICKED, as well as previous roles in Oklahoma!, High School Musical and The Rocky Horror Show.

WEST END IN WALES was founded by Mark in 2006 with the aim of promoting youth theatre around the area where he grew-up. Mark says: "Having taught at some of the UK's leading musical theatre colleges, heading home to run West End In Wales has proved to me that the talent is of an extremely high standard around the area I was brought up in, and North Wales has some extraordinarily naturally gifted young performers.

"However I really feel there is not enough guidance and information available to these youngsters if they want to pursue their musical theatre ambitions and develop their training to possibly become a professional performer, which was the reason I founded this summer school 5 years ago and will continue to run it for as long as I possibly can."

The summer school is held at Theatr Elwy in St. Asaph where youngsters, who do not need to have had any prior experience, work together as a team with a faculty of West End professional performers.

The week culminates in an hour-long showcase performance featuring all aspects of musical theatre, and is open to be enjoyed by very proud family and friends.

To celebrate the WEST END IN WALES’ 5th successful year, new elements are being added to the summer school: “Workshop Wednesday” will introduce four new aspects of musical theatre to the students, allowing them to explore the technical, physical, audio and team work sides of the theatre form. The age limit will also be altered to welcome 10-18 year olds so they too can enjoy this unique opportunity to work with top West End performers.

WICKED also celebrates it’s 5th birthday in London this year and is very proud to support Mark Evans and the 5th year of WEST END IN WALES.

*Mark Evans will not be appearing in WICKED between these dates inclusively
