Liverpool’s Isla Gladstone Conservatory is encouraging couples to look beyond the usual flowers, cards and chocolates this Valentine’s Day and take their loved one for a romantic walk in the picturesque Stanley Park.
Set in one of the North-West’s greatest Victorian parks, the Conservatory will direct people to romantic hideaways and scenic spots that would make even Catherine and Heathcliff jealous.
Stanley Park, which recently won a Green Flag award for its beauty and conservation, has panoramic views extending out from the Mersey coast in the West to the Lancashire Hills to the North and East.
Owner Gemma Hindley said: “It may be cold and wet at this time of year, but couples will just have to find other ways to keep each other warm!
"If you pop into the conservatory we will tell you all the best places to visit with your sweetheart, and maybe even the best spot to pop the question!
“We’ll also be serving some extra special Valentines afternoon teas at Kemps Bistro so pop in after your stroll to warm up in our beautiful surroundings.”
Park manager Steven Vose said: “We have some gorgeous spots in Stanley Park, perfect for those wanting to do something a bit different this Valentine’s weekend.
"There are lakes, viewing ports, historic stone pavilions in the Gothic Revival Style, ornamental bedding displays of beautiful flowers, summerhouses and stunning red sandstone buildings. We’ve got the lot!”
Gemma added: “An estimated 21.5 million Valentine’s cards are exchanged every year in the UK.
"We want people to draw on their inner romantic and see the natural beauty of the Park instead of wasting money and damaging the environment with cards and roses.”
