A mystery Father Christmas has been spreading some festive goodwill to people in Liverpool city centre.

The secret Santa has been spotted handing out pound coins to shoppers passing by the Christmas tree on Church Street over the last week.

The strange St Nicholas has aroused the suspicion of inquisitive Scousers who have been contacting the council and local media speculating as to who might be behind the beard.

Here at Click Liverpool, we put our best investigative journalism skills to the test and we can reveal the man behind the 'Miracle on Church Street' is in fact Radio City presenter Simon Ross.

Breakfast Show host Rossie went undercover to prove that miracles can happen just in time for Christmas.

He said: "I’m absolutely gutted to have been rumbled, I thought my plan was fool proof.

"Still the miracle on Church Street was fun while it lasted. This is such a warm hearted, generous area so it’s delightful to give something back.

"Don’t tell the rest of The Radio City Breakfast Show crew, because I have spent our Christmas lunch out money on it!"

The generous DJ has helped brighten the day of hundreds of shoppers, handing out over £300 to lucky passers-by over the last seven days.
