Wartime sauciness hits Liverpool this month as an evening of Burlesque in the Blitz comes to Blue Bar at the Albert Dock.

The 1940s themed event takes place on Wednesday 24th November, from 7pm - 11pm, and will be raising money for breast cancer charity, CoppaFeel.

The event hopes to capture the essence of World War II England with a line up of local and national acts, inlcuding Nazi spy routines by burlesque personality Twinkle Starr to genuine 1940’s treats by Liverpool catering company, Off My Cake.

Guests will also have the chance to take home a piece of retro magic as Pillbox Vintage will be selling some of their most coveted burlesque pieces.

The tantalising team behind The Canary Cage will present some of the greatest talent from the burlesque scene and performers will include Gem de la Creme, who will be debuting her ‘Landgirl’ routine and Twinkle Starr, a pin-up and burlesque star set to feature on the next series of Britain’s Got Talent.

There will also be vocal performances from solo wartime singer Heather Marie, described in one review as an ‘absolute delight’, and The Swingaroo Sisters, a vocal trio who’s harmonies are described as ‘tight as a girdle’.

In the name of maintaining a light hearted and fun loving spirit, three local ladies are learning the art of burlesque and being sponsored by family and friends to perform on the evening, dressed in Pillbox Vintage's finest garments.

The chic and sophisticated event, hosted by University of Liverpool student and fashion blogger Rosaleen Gallagher, supports Coppafeel, a charity founded by 24-year-old Kristin Hallenga, who suffers from the illness and wants to raise awareness in young women of its ability to strike at any age.

Tickets cost £8/£10. Please contact Rosaleen directly at rosaleen@rosaleengallagher.com with any additional enquiries or for further information.
