Knowsley Road has been the spiritual home of Rugby for Saints RLFC since 1890. As the state of the art stadium now stands at the old Pilkington Glass site, the Saints have announced a fitting send off with the Farewell to Knowsley Road Festival, 15th 16th and 17th October.
The hallowed ground will turn over to the fans to celebrate the end of Knowsley Road and the beginning of a new era for the club.
Friday 15th October will see The Greatest 17 Gala Dinner. This black tie affair is hosted by BBC's Gordon Burns, and sees the legendary 17 to Knowsley Road to be honoured. Amongst the 17 is legendary winger Tom Van Vollenhoven (75) who will jet in from South Africa, while forwards Cliff Watson (70) and Dick Huddart (74) are set to travel from their homes in Australia.
On the night guests will dine on a three course dinner followed by a live 7 piece band and a once in a lifetime auction of unique Saints Memorabilia.
Saturday 16th October is the Fans Party sees the marquee on the pitch turn into a night of celebration with first team players in attendance; past and present legends like Paul Sculthorpe, Chris Joynt, Steve Prescott and Tommy Martin to mention just a few. The Magners Bar and a sumptuous buffet as the highlights of the last season at Knowsley Road are played out, with of course a performance by the ‘Saintsaitions’ cheerleading squad, a stand up comedian and a live 7 piece band.
Sunday 17th is Family Day, an action packed roller coaster ride of traditional fun fair attractions, bouncy castles and soft play, and children of every age have been catered for. Circus skills and stilt walkers, coconut shy and dancing girls, face-painting with Pirates and Mermaids, the teacup ride and the bungee trampolines, there is bags of fun to be had as the final party to close Knowsley Road to Saints fans of every age.
And, courtesy of Saints RLFC, Clickliverpool are able to offer two great prizes - a pair of tickets for the Fans Party this Saturday night AND a family pass for Sunday's Family Day.

Then, on October the 24th, local parish reverend and club chaplain Paul Day will bless the pitch at Knowsley Road, in an All Denominations Remembrance Service, paying respects to those who have had their ashes spread on the surface over the years, both fans and players alike.
The remembrance forms part of the Saints Farewell to Knowsley Road Festival, where a small piece of turf will be given to St. Luke’s Parish Church located on Knowsley Road as a lasting tribute.
Don’t miss your last chance to walk out onto the pitch at the legendary home of Saints RLFC.
