Enjoy a Medieval Fayre at Liverpool region's Tam O'Shanter

History will be brought to life at Wirral's Tam O’Shanter next month when the urban farm plays host to a special Medieval Fayre weekend.

There’ll be something for all the family during the open event, which takes place on Saturday 11th and Sunday 12th September. There will be “Knights In Battle” displays, living history and cooking demonstrations and crafts people showing a range of traditional arts, crafts, puppetry and storytelling – all with a medieval theme.

The fayre is free and open to everyone, with no need to book.

That is not the only event planned for the farm early next month. On Friday 10th September, school teachers can bring along their pupils to a special activities taster day with papermaking, calligraphy, rock carving, clay work, weaving and green woodwork.

Unlike the Medieval Fayre, this day will need to be booked by teachers in advance. There is no charge, but donations to the farm will be gratefully received. The sessions will run between 9.45am and noon and 1.15pm to 3.30pm.

On Saturday 11th September, the Rangers who are based at Tam O’Shanter and the adjacent Bidston Hill, will be leading guided tours up the Hill to the windmill, which is open on the Saturday from 10am-12noon and 2pm-4pm, to see where the first recorded windmill used to stand.

For further information and to book the teachers’ taster day, contact the Rangers on 0151 653 9332.
