Thousands of people converged on Sefton Park to enjoy the opening of the Liverpool Food and Drink Festival 2009.
Basking in some late summer sun the crowds enjoyed the produce of some of the cities top restaurants. Chefs operating in dozens of stalls cooked up all kinds of cuisine for hungry revellers in the famous Victorian park. From locally sourced farm-food to Japanese delicacies there was something for everyone.
Grace Peterson, a thirty-eight year-old nurse travelled from Aintree with her family for the day, said: "It's fantastic, the weather has helped but I think the kids would have loved it even it was raining" she said yesterday. "It's great value and we've really enjoyed picking at different types of food that we wouldn't normally try".
In only its second year the Liverpool Food and Drink Fesitval looks set to be a permanent fixture on the Merseyside festival calender.
