New Authentic Italian restaurant opens in the heart of South Liverpool

A new restaurant that promises guests authentic Italians dishes in an intimate and inviting setting has opened it doors in South Liverpool.

Michelangelo’s, which is located at The Blenheim Lakeside, opposite Sefton Park’s picturesque lake, is the brainchild of Chief Executive Conor O’Donovan and will serve central and southern Italian dishes in what feels like a warm and welcoming trattoria.

With just 30 covers, the restaurant has an extensive A la Carte menu, early bird’s which are available all day Sunday – Tuesday and until 7.00PM Wednesday - Saturday and a specials board that will change every week.

Conor, 28, said: “I’ve planned to open this restaurant since taking over The Blenheim Lakeside 12 months ago and in that time, we’ve done a lot of market research.

"We discovered that there was a real need for a new and authentic Italian restaurant in this part of the city and we couldn’t ask for a better location.

We have the advantage of being in a really nice setting and we’ve now sourced the best chefs around to offer a truly desirable offering.”

The menu begins with nearly a dozen tempting Antipasti options, like the Arancini (fried risotto balls stuffed with tomato, peas and mozzarella cheese) and Spiedinidi Gamberi (King prawns served on crustada bread with white wine and chill garlic sauce). Mains include classics such as Lasagne al Forno, Pollo Piri and Risotto Verde, as well as a varied selection of pizzas and vegetarian dishes to suit all tastes.

Michelangelo’s will also serve locally sourced prime cuts of beef on a hot stone, which continues to cook once it is presented to the dinner table.

Conor added: “For me, it’s all about the overall experience and having managed a restaurant previously, I know about the high standards and the expectations that diners have. We wanted to create cuisine that we ultimately care about.”

Prices start from £6.95-11.95 for pizza and pasta, mains from £12.95 and from £15.95 for steaks.

Michelangelo’s, which is housed in the award winning Blenheim Lakeside Hotel, will be open Monday-Thursday 5-10.30 pm, Friday and Saturday 4-11pm and Sunday noon-9.30 pm.
