Buffalo Jacks restaurant review

Buffalo Jacks is the new Americana family-friendly restaurant, striding into Liverpool's burgeoning restaurant scene with larger than life platters.

The Chocolate and Oreo Milkshakes were the perfect thick consistency we've grown to expect from real American diners, made with real ice-cream.

The seafood combo and mini American sampler were superb, the cuts of meat generous and the spices authentic and delicious.

The Chilli special and the Steak Grill were also delicious, generous sized portions.

The Americana decor was 80s-90s in a good way, inviting a new generation of 20-somethings to join the foodie party.

And we were pleased to hear the Peter Gunn theme from The Blues Brothers while we were tucking into the mains.

The large Elvis and Blues Brothers statues were friendly and popular with the kids who were there when we were dining but seemed a little dated in comparison with the very fine wooden and modern chrome fittings at the bar.

Buffalo Jacks ticked the boxes for American restaurant theming that has been done to death, maybe a flat screen TV with ESPN would be a good modern touch to contrast with the old school American classics.

The sign of good home-cooked American food is being satisfied but too full to move at the end. And it makes you long for a real taste of America if you're fond of eating round the States.

As road-trippers with extensive American roadside diner food expertise we can wholeheartedly recommend Buffalo Jacks and have found a new restaurant to work our way through the menu and satisfy our lust for five-dollar milkshakes.
