Food lovers have only two more days to wait until this year’s Liverpool Food and Drink Festival.
This Saturday and Sunday (September 3 and 4), more than 70 top bars, restaurants, producers and hotels will descend on Sefton Park for the popular event, which is now in its fourth year. The Liverpool Food and Drink Festival celebrates the city’s excellent food and drink offer – from high-end restaurants to quirky cafes, local producers to exceptionally talented chefs.
Visitors will be welcomed by a whole host of new areas, including a taste of Ireland experience, a dedicated music zone, live food art displays, a vintage wine area featuring a variety of sommelier masterclasses, numerous sampling stations from top UK brands and an impressive local culinary talent area, as well as a range of entertainment in the form of dancers, stilt walkers, performers and even a dragon!
Denise Harris, MD of SK Events, said: “There is even more reason to come to the event this year than ever before, firstly the introduction of new areas and activities, it is now over two days, and also due to the additional entertainment that is planned, courtesy of some of our exhibitors.
"The team at Circo will be bringing along stilt walkers and fire eaters, Alma de Cuba have Brazilian dancers, Bem Brasil will have a capoeira performance, Mayur on Duke Street will have Indian dancers and The Buffet Club will be bringing their very own Chinese Dragon.
"“Aspects like this, partnered with the food and drink that’s on offer, make this event unique and we can’t wait for everyone to come and join us this weekend. We believe it will be the largest pop up food court in the country.”
SK Events have also revealed that this year’s Liverpool Food and Drink Awards, which are being held on September 12 and in association with the Liverpool Daily Post, have now become a sell out. Guests in their hundreds will attend the ceremony on September 12 at The Camp and Furnace, where they will feast on a luxurious picnic themed three course dinner with a twist, while enjoying entertainment from Liverpool soul band ‘The Christians’.
More than 3,000 people have voted for this year’s awards, in just the past four weeks, as restaurants, bars, and producers battle it out to be titled ‘the city’s best’.
Categories for the 2011 awards include Liverpool’s Favourite Producer, Favourite Independent Cafe/Coffee Shop, Liverpool’s Favourite Restaurant and Liverpool’s Favourite Bar or Pub
As well as support from the Daily Post, the event will be run in association with an array of local businesses including Brown Turner Ross, Rhubarb & Custard, Beer Cellars and The De Vere Academy of Hospitality.
