Liverpool football fans are being given the chance to spend an evening rubbing shoulders with some of the region’s favourite Anfield legends.

Broadcaster and sports journalist John Keith will be joined by Liverpool greats, Ian Callaghan, Ron Yeats and Chris Lawler at a special charity dinner, as they perform an extract from his play ‘The Bill Shankly Story.’

The evening is being held in memory of Southport businessman Tony Cafferkey, who died in 2009 after a two-year battle with lung cancer.

The exclusive event will be held at the Scarisbrick Hotel, where Tony was managing director, with all the proceeds being donated to The Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation, the UK’s only charity wholly dedicated to the defeat of lung cancer.

Guests will also be treated to a set from impressionist Darren Farley dubbed ‘The Voice of Football’ who became famed for his impressions of some of Liverpool’s most memorable players and managers including Steven Gerrard and Jamie Carragher.

Events fundraising manager at The Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation, Janine Drew, said: “Tony was a huge Liverpool fan and so hosting such an exclusive event in his hotel in his honour is a real privilege for the charity.

“We are so pleased that both his family and the Liverpool legends have given us their time and talents for the evening.”

The event is taking place at on Thursday 19th May at The Scarisbrick Hotel, Lord Street, Southport with tickets priced at £40 each and can be bought individually or in tables of 10.

The evening will include a drinks reception, three-course dinner with entertainment provided by the Liverpool legends.
