Liverpool favourite The Quarter is joining forces with The Reader Organisation to celebrate the launch of the Quarter Library.
The Quarter, based on the corner of Falkner Street and Hope Street in the idyllic Georgian Quarter, is launching the brand new Library area in fitting fashion by having the Reader Organisation host a ‘Food for Thought’ book club session.
The event, hosted by The Reader Organisation, saw guests engaging and taking part in a reading session based on The Reader Organisation’s new book titled ‘A Little Aloud’ which features a number of short stories designed to be read aloud. The book was also available at The Quarter for a discounted price of £6.99 (rrp £9.99). Guests then discussed the book whilst enjoying light bites and coffee provided by the Quarter. The event will see the start of a monthly ‘book club’ hosted by the Reader Organisation that will take place in the Quarter Library.
The Reader Organisation is a national charity based in Liverpool. The charity is a pioneer of reader development and social change, making it possible for people of all ages, backgrounds and abilities to engage with reading. They run the innovative ‘Get into Reading’ project across the UK.
The new Quarter Library has come about due to customer demand; the Quarter has become a place to go for a quiet coffee and to kick back with a newspaper or a book. The Library now provides a place dedicated to this. The launch also follows suit with the Quarter’s penchant for expansion having expanded four times since its launch in 2004.
Gary Manning, co-owner of The Quarter followed up saying: “We have a lot of customers coming in to sit down, have a coffee and relax over a book, so we decided to create an area dedicated to this.
"The library has come out of customer demand; it’s a private space that can be used for everything from business meetings and celebrations or simply as quiet space to read a book undisrupted.”
Jennifer Tomkins, Communications Manager at the Reader Organisation said: “It’s great to be involved with the Quarter, my favourite eatery in town, to open their library in true reader fashion: some brilliant reading and excellent food!
"The new library is a great space to unwind with a book alone, or to share some reading, discussion and good food with friends.”
