Liverpool Pier Head pan Asian restaurant Matou is offering a free meal to all winning jockeys at this year’s Grand National Festival.
The riverside restaurant is getting into the spirit of the biggest sporting event on the city’s calendar with special offers for riders – and racegoers.
They are offering a tasty extra incentive for jockeys of a free two-course meal to all winners.
And the restaurant has come up with a certain winner for Grand National race goers, with a VIP special package.
Luxury champagne breakfast, transport to and from the Aintree course and a mouthwatering evening banquet are on offer on all of the three days of the Grand National Festival.
Co-owner Billy Riley said: “I love the Grand National, it’s a hugely important event on the Merseyside calendar and it creates a great buzz in the city.
“We want to be part of the excitement of the festival which is why we’re offering a very special experience to everyone who likes to make a day of it.”
The breakfast is either traditional English or pan Asian, with champagne, tea and coffee. The evening banquet is a platter of hors d’oeuvres - spicy pork loin; king prawn salt and pepper; aromatic crispy lamb and pa far roll; followed by four main courses – chicken Peking style; stir fried lamb Uzukur; pan fried scallops; and Korean fillet steak.
Dessert is ice cream profiteroles or mixed fresh fruits with Cheshire Farm ice cream.
Meanwhile in the restaurant’s cocktail bar, staff are serving three special tipples to mark the occasion – Red Rum; Captain Becher; and Princess Royal.
The Grand National package is £75 for the full day; or £40 for the champagne breakfast and transport only; or £38 for the evening banquet only.
