Real ale enthusiasts are in for a real treat with the return of the St.Helens CAMRA Beer, Cider and Pie Festival.
In the unique setting of the North West Museum of Road Transport, the festival will bring together more than 50 real ales, ciders and perries. So, if you don’t know your Cherry Bomb from your Cheeky Pheasant then this is the perfect time to find out more.
Following on from the tremendous success of last year’s event, the Festival has been expanded to include a wider range of drinks and local foods. The three-day event from 1st –3rd October is also adding to the Be Local Buy local campaign providing a taste of local foods with bakers from across the Borough offering their pies and produce for sale. Dazzling entertainment is also on the menu with performances from Hoochie Coochie Man and The Lazy River Jazz Band.
Beer from a number of local breweries will be featured, including George Wright’s at Rainford, Cambrinus Craft Brewery at Knowsley and Liverpool Organic Brewery, together with ales from further afield.
Organiser Tony Biggs, Chairman of the St.Helens sub branch of CAMRA, says: "Following the success of last year’s sell-out Beer Festival we are pleased to offer the Borough another taste of real ales and perries. If you’ve never tried real ale before then come along and find out what you’ve been missing, it will be a pleasant surprise. We will have some really unusual beers on offer, live music and the introduction of local and regional foods will help to make it another great festival."
The event will also be raising money for two good causes, Breast Cancer Awareness and the St.Helens Mayor’s Appeal.
Opening times are:
Thursday 1st October - 6.00pm - 11.00pm
Friday 2nd October - 12 noon - 4.00pm & 6.00pm 11.00pm

Councillor Richard Ferry, Executive Member for Urban Regeneration at St.Helens Council says: "We are delighted to welcome CAMRA to St.Helens for their second festival in the town. This will be a superb occasion in a very interesting setting and it shows the variety of the many events on offer in St.Helens in the coming months."
